Livia, to address your questions about where we source talent:

We seek out speakers we feel have content or expertise or other attributes that would be beneficial to our clients. We also learn of speakers from our clients - a meeting planner's endorsement of a speaker is about as good as it gets! And we also take note of recommendations from other speakers whom we respect. Hope that helps!

Thanks for reading.

Hi Scott,

Got here from twitter. Great post, thanks for sharing.

I totally agree with her on the "energy" point.

And also, I would say the value of seeing the speeaker in person, face-to-face. It´s scarce. If I´m at event A, I can´t be at event B. I have to travel.

Also, I would say speeches are enternaiment events, not only information event. The best speakers learn to mix content with great humor and stage presence.

I´m trying to do that, learning and improving, day-by-day. Your post helped me.

Thanks a lot, Miguel, from Brazil

Small typo: "If a company does $500 million in revenue and a speaker offers some nuggets of wisdom that spark a 1% boost in performance, that’s $500,000." A 1% boost in performance would be $5 million, a much more significant impact.

Thanks for sharing this Scott, very interesting. I would love to know how they source talent; How do they become aware of new speakers? Do they look for people in various conferences? Do they actively recruit new speakers?

I am also interested to know (maybe you know), if speakers who mainly do that for a living, coach other people; who is grooming the next generation of speakers?
